Bible Verses About Courage

40 passages BSB

Reflection

Courage in the Bible is not loud bravado. It is faithful obedience when the path is uncertain and the cost is real—because God has promised to be with His people.

Joshua is told to be strong and courageous not as a personality upgrade, but because the Lord goes before him. Esther risks everything for her people. The disciples speak boldly after Pentecost. Courage looks like telling the truth, loving the hard-to-love, standing firm under pressure, and taking the next right step when fear says stay still. It is often quiet. It is often repeated. It is always rooted in the character of God rather than in self-confidence.

These verses are for interviews and diagnoses, for hard conversations and long callings, for anyone who feels small before a large task. Read them as commissioning words. The God who commanded courage also supplies it. You do not have to feel brave to walk bravely—only to trust the One who holds your hand.
