Bible Verses About Wisdom

40 passages BSB

Reflection

Wisdom in the Bible is skill for living under God’s rule—seeing life as He sees it and walking accordingly. It begins with the fear of the Lord: reverent awe that reorders our loves.

Proverbs personifies wisdom as calling in the streets, inviting the simple to learn. Job wrestles with wisdom in suffering. James promises that God gives wisdom generously to those who ask. Paul points to Christ as the wisdom of God, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Wisdom is practical: how we speak, spend, work, marry, parent, and decide. It is also spiritual: knowing what matters eternally when the world shouts otherwise.

These verses are for crossroads and daily choices alike. Read them before you decide, not only after. Let them slow you down into prayerful attentiveness. True wisdom is never merely clever; it is pure, peaceable, and full of mercy. Ask, and the Father who loves to give good gifts will guide you.
